Two Furry Delights

Standard

I’ve been hoping and praying for a pair of kittens for almost a year, and God has at long last answered my prayers. I am now the proud owner of two 4-5 week old Siamese kittens, a brother and sister pair. Their names are Solomon and Gracie, and they’re no bigger than two tiny mites. They are SOOO CUTE!!! I can practically hold each one in the palm of my hand, they’re so small. I brought them home earlier this afternoon, and immediately they ate dinner, and I then showed them the litter box, to which each of them promptly responded by pooping and peeing.

I can tell you, that made me very happy, because that means that they are both adapting quickly to living with me.

Thank you, Jesus!!

One of the really cool things that I just love about them is that they follow me around all the time. They also like to sleep on me, which I think is perfectly lovely, plus they purr easily ~ something else I had prayed for.

The only problem I’m having with them is that they’re so similar in appearance that I can’t tell them apart unless they’re both standing in front of me. I think I have to go to PetsMart and get two different colored collars so I can differentiate between the two of them. They’re too young to be spayed/neutered yet. That won’t happen for another month, so the solution seems to be two different colored collars.

This is what they look like. I think the top one is Gracie, and the one on the bottom is Solomon, but don’t hold me to that. Regardless, aren’t they cute? I think they’re adorable, and I’m praising God for answering my prayers so admirably.

.

The godly care for their animals, but the wicked are always cruel. ~ Proverbs 12:10, NLT.

So Solomon and Gracie are a blessing and a gift from God, and I will do my level best to treat them as such, and love them a LOT!! I figure God gave them to me to demonstrate how much He loves me, so I can do no less than to love them back.

About sarahjesusnlily

My name is Sarah Abigail Kuriakos. I come from a background of extreme child abuse, and it almost destroyed my life. My mother tried to kill me while I was an infant, my father threatened to kill me if I told anyone what he was doing to me, and I tried suicide nine times as an adult. Fortunately, God had other plans, and none of the attempts on my life succeeded. The purpose of this blog is to chronicle the progress I'm making as God heals me from my childhood, while making sure that God is glorified in the process. I'm a voracious reader, and I enjoy crocheting, doing counted cross stitch, and creating art. I also enjoy playing with my cat Lily, listening to Christian music, and watching movies. My favorite books are, first and foremost, The Holy Bible, then Jane Eyre, David Copperfield, The Count of Monte Cristo, and To Kill a Mockingbird. I also love Christian apologetics. The most important thing in my life is knowing and serving Jesus Christ, and telling people about His great love for them. People need to know that God loves them!

  1. Sarah, Timing is such a wondrous thing and I was just thinking about you girls yesterday. Missing you all.
Also love the Proverbs verse you included, because just thinking about that too. The world needs to remember that treating an animal cruelly is designated by God as evil. Not sure why that makes me feel somewhat better regarding things but it does. Maybe its because this tells us God has placed them under his protection. Has anyone ever read ‘The Good Earth’ by Pearl S Buck? There is a scene in the book regarding the main character’s Ox and the way that scene was carried out just reminds me of that verse, it always has.
So glad you posted the pictures of the beautiful kittens and you know Siamese are very loyal cats!! Enjoy having Gracie and Solomon and Bless their little hearts.
    Love to you

    • Sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you with a response, Kim!

I fell yesterday afternoon as I was leaving to go to my therapy appointment. I’m okay, but I twisted my right ankle, which is why I fell, and scraped and wrenched my left knee, which is now turning all kinds of lovely colors. My whole body aches and I can barely move, but I really am okay.

I suppose that sounds a bit like an oxymoron. You know, kind of like, I have a broken neck, and both arms and both legs have been amputated, and my face is smashed in, but I really am okay.

But it’s not as bad as all that. My knee is bruised, and my ankle hurts, and my body aches, and I’m having a difficult time getting around, but I didn’t want to go anywhere anyway because of my eyes (cataracts), so it really doesn’t matter! Plus the pain is beginning to lessen a little.

The cool thing is, when it happened, I was lying on the ground, trying to figure out how I was going to get up, and praying to God to help me, and just then I heard someone say, “Are you all right?” I looked up and it was the woman who occupies the garage space next to mine. She’s a very nice person, and I really like her. She came running over and grabbed my hands and tried to pull me up, but was unsuccessful. So I asked her if she could go into my apartment and get my sunglasses, because I had forgotten them. I was reticent to let anyone I don’t know that well into my apartment, but didn’t feel like I had a choice. I HAD to have my sunglasses.

She apparently was feeling the same reticence, because she responded by suggesting that she try again to help me get up, and this time we were successful. Thank God!! So I was able to get my own sunglasses.

So God provided someone to help me at just the right time. God is SOOO GOOD!! That part of my apartment complex is pretty lonely. People don’t walk around much. They pretty much stay in their own apartments. So the fact that there was someone there right at that moment really was a gift from God. Yay! Thank God!!

      Now to your comment!

I’m SOOO GLAD to hear from you!! It’s been such a long time!!

I’m glad you liked the verse from Proverbs. I’ve always liked that verse too, though the second half of it has always been kind of a mystery to me, and I almost didn’t include it in my quote. But you helped clarify it for me. Thank you!! The verse makes much more sense to me now. Somehow I hadn’t thought of the second half of the verse about the wicked being cruel as relating to animal cruelty and the fact that God sees that as evil. Silly me! Though I’m very glad God doesn’t like it, to be sure.

I think I had to read The Good Earth in Junior High School, but that was probably 50 years ago, so I remember nothing about it whatsoever, other than that it was by Pearl S. Buck.

I hope you and your family are doing well, and I hope that life is being kind to you! I think of you often and pray for you when I do.

I’m working on your other comment too…

      Love you lots and lots!

    • It’s so good to hear from you, Helen, and yes, they are indeed delightful. They’re sitting here, right next to me, as I’m typing this reply to your comment, something which I find amazing and delightful all by itself. They follow me everywhere around my apartment, to the point that I have to watch out that I don’t trip over them. I’ve having to pray that God helps me to NOT do exactly that.

They’re so cute, at least partly because they’re so tiny. They sleep on me, which I love, and climb all over me. I’m their Sarah-mountain.

It fills my heart with joy that God has answered my prayers so completely. God is SOOO GOOD!! He does all things well, and it is good to wait on Him, even if sometimes it takes a long time. Sometimes waiting a long time is better than if the answer comes quickly.

Once again, I am SOOO GLAD to hear from you!! I hope you’re doing well, and life is being kind to you. I love you and think of you often.
